The effects of the Hannes storm that began on Saturday are still visible in train traffic until December 31. Storm winds have knocked trees onto the tracks and caused damage to the electricity network, which the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency is currently repairing. From March 3rd, we will implement a more uniform service fee for ticket sales. The changes will affect our ticket vending machines, commuter tickets sold at R-kioskis, and our phone service. We are piloting the use of body cameras in VR’s commuter traffic

Based on customer surveys, the feeling of safety in VR’s commuter train traffic is at a very good level and train travel is perceived as safe. According to the latest customer satisfaction survey carried out at the beginning of the year, for example, the feeling of safety on our commuter trains received a grade of 4.5 on a scale of 1–5. In order to prevent and resolve individual disruptions in VR’s commuter train traffic, conductors’ use of body cameras will be piloted during the spring.Read more

The price of an adult single ticket will increase by an average of 60 cents. Reduced train services continued – early week train services replaced with bus transportation

The long period of frost has caused significant challenges for the train fleet. We aim to get train traffic back to the normal schedule as soon as possible and, to ensure this, we will continue to reduce train traffic also in the early week. Most of the services will be replaced by bus transport and some customers will be transferred to other train services. Train traffic between Finland and Russia will start again after the break which started in spring 2020. Russia signed the decree on the opening of passenger train traffic on 3 December 2021. The Vainikkala border crossing point opened for passenger train traffic by decision of the border control on 18 October 2021. For other modes of transport, such as air and bus transport, the border has been open for a longer period of time. Allegro train tickets became available on Friday 3 December 2021.
