Discount for persons undergoing non-military service
What discounts can I get?
You can travel for free on our long-distance trains with train tickets obtained by your employer. In other cases, you get a discount on tickets for long-distance traffic and VR’s commuter traffic.
Travel for free on your free time
You can travel for free on our trains when you travel from the accommodation assigned by your employer to your place of domicile or residence if your employer obtains train tickets for you trough vr.fi.
Please present your valid non-military service card to the ticket inspector.
Buying trips in advance
As a person undergoing non-military service, you can book a maximum of two train trips for the same day and buy a maximum of two round trips in advance. Please note that you can only book discounted leisure trips for yourself.
Long-distance train tickets -30%
You will get a 30% discount on the single tickets for long-distance traffic when you travel on your free time. No discounts are applicable to night train cabins. Please present your valid non-military service card to the ticket inspector.
VR’s commuter traffic tickets -50%
You get a 50% discount on single tickets for VR’s commuter traffic. Please present your valid non-military service card to the ticket inspector.
