With the VR Matkalla app, you can travel smoothly. In the app, you can easily buy tickets and follow the progress of your trip, make changes to your trip independently and enjoy the benefits provided to the app’s users.

Keep on track
Use the app to track the progress of your journey. During the journey, you will also receive information about the services in the train, connections and possible exceptions. You can also contact our customer service through the chat in the app.
Modify your journey
If your plans change, you can easily make changes to your journey. You can, for example, change your seat, upgrade to Ekstra Class or Upstairs of the restaurant car, add a friend to your journey or even change the time of your entire journey. Some of the changes are subject to a charge.
Travel from door to door
You can buy local traffic tickets to start or continue your train trip in several different cities, and enjoy our partners' benefits, for example, for a cheaper taxi ride or a rental car.
Buy season tickets
You can only buy season tickets for commuter and long-distance traffic in the app. With your phone, your ticket is always conveniently available, and you can book seats for individual trips with a few clicks.
Add anonymously bought tickets in to the app
Did you buy a ticket from another sales channel without logging in? Simply enter the ticket’s order and reference numbers in the app and unlock all the benefits of the app for these journeys, too. Tickets that can be transferred to the app are tickets purchased from vr.fi, customer service, R-kioski, the ticket vending machine or a conductor. After adding your ticket to the app, you can also transfer it to the Apple Wallet app.
The app is your discount card for the restaurant car
Show the app at the checkout of the restaurant car for benefits on many delicious treats. You can find the benefits in the message section of the app.
Order food to your seat in the app
You can order food and drinks from the restaurant car in the app, and we will deliver them to your seat.
Order your coffee in the app and skip the queue
You can pre-order your coffee via the app and pick it up from the restaurant car by showing the coupon.

Self-service ticket activation
When you travel with an adult or child's ticket, you can activate your ticket 15 min before & up to 10 min after departure. The conductor may, however, check your ticket again if you move to, for example, the restaurant car after activation.
Track your carbon footprint
In our app, you'll find information about how much you've traveled by train during the year, and how much lower your carbon footprint is thanks to travelling by train. Take a look at your own summary in the VR Matkalla app!
What services do you get when you are logged in?
When you are logged in, you can change your outward time, change your seat or upgrade your ticket to a different travel class. You can also add a bike to your order afterwards or book a seat for your pet. Some changes and services are only available in the app or at vr.fi. You can check the availability of the desired change below.
