Welcome to Eko Class!

Eko Class is our most inexpensive travel class and can be found on all our long-distance trains. On the InterCity and Pendolino trains, seat reservation is always included in the price of an Eko Class ticket.

Eko Class includes coaches with pet areas, coaches with children's play areas and service coaches, for example.

The price of an Eko Class ticket includes seat reservation on the InterCity and Pendolino trains.

Coaches for many needs

On the Pendolino and InterCity trains, you can choose a seat from a coach with a pet area or a seat next to a children's play area, for example.

Always free wi-fi

The new wi-fi ("Uusi VR-wifi") on long-distance trains is free for everyone and up to five times faster than the previous wi-fi.

Single seat in Eko Class

Our InterCity and Pendolino trains also offer single seats in Eko Class. You can travel without anyone sitting next to you with the single seat. Select a single seat from the coach map when purchasing a ticket or change the seat afterwards at vr.fi or in the VR Matkalla app.

Empty seat next to you in Eko Class

You can easily get additional space by also reserving the seat next to you. You can reserve an empty seat on an InterCity or Pendolino train when purchasing a ticket or afterwards at vr.fi or in the VR Matkalla app. An empty seat is usually cheaper than a normal ticket.

4-person family compartment in an InterCity train

Are you travelling with your family? Book a family cabin with room to play, read and enjoy snacks together as a family. The cabin has four seats and two stools for children.

Having your own compartment brings privacy to travelling

Book a private compartment at vr.fi, in the VR Matkalla mobile app or from a ticket vending machine at the station

A compartment is a peaceful place to work or relax.
If you belong to a discount group you get the normal discount on the ticketwhen travelling in a compartment.
You can book the compartment when purchasing a ticket or afterwards.
All available compartments will be shown when selecting your seat.
The compartment price depends on the selected route, date and time, number of passengers and how close to the departure you purchase the ticket.
If you need to change the date or time of your journey, it is easy to do so by calling our customer service on 0100 3232 (cost 0,06 €/min + lnc/mcc). A change fee of EUR 5,20 plus any price difference for a new train ticket will be charged.
You can buy cancellation insurance for a ticket with a cabin from the vr.fi website and from the VR Matkalla app. Cancellation insurance always concerns the entire cabin; it does not cover the cancellation of individual seats of the cabin.
