Conquer the summery capital by bike. From 21 May, train passengers can get a discounted day or weekly pass for HSL city bikes. The reduced price for a day pass is €4 (normal price €5) and for a weekly pass €7.50 (normal price €10). The benefit is valid throughout the city bike season.

Unlimited number of 60 min ridesYou have access to nearly 4,600 bikes and 460 bike stations in Helsinki and Espoo. The pass includes an unlimited number of up to 60-minute rides within the entire city bike area.
How can I use the city bike benefit?
To use this benefit, you need to purchase a train ticket. You will find the promo code in the VR Matkalla app.
- Buy a train trip in the VR Matkalla app, which starts or ends at a train station within the area where the city bike benefit is valid
- When you have bought the ticket, go to the front page of the app
- Learn more about the city bike benefit by tapping on the button at the bottom of the app’s front page
- Copy the promo code and tap on the button to go to HSL’s website to buy a day or weekly pass
- Follow the instructions on HSL’s website to buy the pass
- Your pass activates immediately after purchasing it. Enjoy unlimited number of up to 60-minute trips!
City bike is your spare bike in the city

With the city bike day pass, you can travel throughout the city bike area in Helsinki and Espoo. You can see the locations of all city bike stations and up-to-date information on the number of bikes at each station in HSL’s Journey Planner, Opens in a new tab.

- As a train passenger, you can get a day pass for a city bike for €4 or a weekly pass for €7.50. The normal price for the day pass is €5 and for the weekly pass €10.
- Discounted passes are available for rail passengers until the end of the city bike season.
- The promo code for the day or weekly pass is available in the VR Matkalla app.
- The benefit is offered to train passengers whose departure or destination station is one of the stations listed above
The benefit is not currently available outside the VR Matkalla app or without the purchase of a train journey.
Please note that you need to create an HSL account or log in to an HSL account in order to purchase a city bike pass.
