Park-and-ride benefit is offered at selected stations in Vantaa, Espoo and Helsinki.
Registering the parking
- Park your car at your departure station’s park-and-ride area at the earliest one hour before your train’s departure time.
- Register your parking with a parking machine. Follow the instructions.
- If applicable, select the length of your parking time.
- If applicable, pay the required sum of the chosen parking time.
- Confirm your parking. Your chosen parking time starts from the confirmation of your parking.
During the parking
- If you've parked at Malmi station, take the receipt of your parking confirmation to your car for the duration of your parking. At all the other stations the parking information is handled automatically, so you do not need to take the receipt to your car.
- Hop on your train and enjoy the trip!
- When you finish your parking and leave the parking area, you don't need to do anything else.
Information about parking
All of VR's tickets that include a QR code entitle you to the park-and-ride benefit. Tickets with QR code can be purchase from e.g. VR Matkalla application, vr.fi, and from our customer service and R-kioski.
The QR code reader reads both paper and electronic tickets. The earliest you can park is one hour before the train departure time specified in your ticket. If you use a season ticket to park, make sure the ticket is valid on the parking date.
Train tickets can only be used for parking at the departure stations. When you travel with a season ticket, your parking station must be one of the stations on the ticket.
The QR code reader does not accept the ticket
If the QR code reader does not accept your ticket, the scanner light turns red. Make sure you are using the correct ticket. The departure station on your ticket must be the same as your parking station. If there are several legs to your journey, park at the departure station of the first train. When you travel with a season ticket, your parking station must be one of your termini. Make sure that your ticket is valid on the travel day and that your train will depart in less than one hour. If your ticket is nevertheless not accepted, please contact VR’s customer support by calling 0100 3232 (cost 0,06 €/min + lnc/mcc).
What if I get a parking fine?
If you have been given a parking fine because of VR, e.g. due to your train’s delayed arrival, you can claim compensation for the fine by filling in VR’s compensation form.
If the parking fine was a result of HSL’s equipment, the city of Vantaa, Espoo or Helsinki, you can request to annul the fine from:
