We are standardizing service fees for ticket sales starting from March 3rd
From March 3rd, we will implement a more uniform service fee for ticket sales. The changes will affect our ticket vending machines, commuter tickets sold at R-kioskis, and our phone service. We will also reinstate service fees for ticket sales points. The service fees for ticket sales points were temporarily removed due to a system update in 2023. No service fee will be added to tickets purchased from vr.fi or the VR Matkalla app.
The service fee covers the operating costs of the services, and our aim is to standardise the pricing principles. A service fee of €0.50 will be added to tickets purchased from ticket vending machines. At R-kiosks, the service fee will be standardized so that a €1 service fee will also be charged for commuter tickets. The service fee has been in place for long-distance tickets at R-kioskis. €1 service fee will also be introduced for our phone service, which will also incur a call charge of €3.55 + local network charge/mobile charge.
The service fee is determined per order, except for single tickets at R-kioskis, where it is determined per ticket. For series tickets or, for example, trips with transfers, one service fee is charged. If a customer buys multiple trips at once, the service fee is determined based on the order and the number of tickets, depending on the booking channel.
Over 90% of domestic long-distance and commuter train tickets are sold as self-service on vr.fi and the VR Matkalla app. Self-service channels have been developed in collaboration with various customer groups to make the channels as user-friendly as possible. We continuously update and develop the channels to improve the user experience. It is also possible to buy a ticket on behalf of someone else in the VR Matkalla app and send it to the recipient by email.
