We are closing down the beta.vr.fi website and the VR Lähijunat app

In the future, VR commuter train and long-distance traffic tickets can be bought in the same sales channels.

We are constantly developing our sales channels by introducing new functionalities and gradually closing our old sales channels. In the future, all VR commuter train ticket products can be bought from the VR Matkalla mobile app or on the uusi.vr.fi website. We are now closing down the separate sales channels of VR commuter train tickets: the VR Lähijunat mobile app and the beta.vr.fi website. The latest new feature is that now the renewed VR's commuter season ticket is available in the VR Matkalla mobile app. You can also find multi-tickets for long-distance and commuter trains from the app. Long-distance traffic season tickets are still available in the familiar and safe vr.fi., Opens in a new tab

We are standardizing service fees for ticket sales starting from March 3rd

From March 3rd, we will implement a more uniform service fee for ticket sales. The changes will affect our ticket vending machines, commuter tickets sold at R-kioskis, and our phone service. We will also reinstate service fees for ticket sales points. The service fees for ticket sales points were temporarily removed due to a system update in 2023. No service fee will be added to tickets purchased from vr.fi or the VR Matkalla app.

We are piloting the use of body cameras in VR’s commuter traffic

Based on customer surveys, the feeling of safety in VR’s commuter train traffic is at a very good level and train travel is perceived as safe. According to the latest customer satisfaction survey carried out at the beginning of the year, for example, the feeling of safety on our commuter trains received a grade of 4.5 on a scale of 1–5. In order to prevent and resolve individual disruptions in VR’s commuter train traffic, conductors’ use of body cameras will be piloted during the spring.
