Logging in to our services will be renewed soon

There will be changes to the login process of your VR account as we are gradually introducing an even more secure login system starting from 28 November. We are updating the look of the login window, and each user will have to change their password the first time they log in to the new system.

We are switching to a new, more secure way of logging in to VR’s services. As a result of the renewal, the login window has been redesigned. You will also be asked to change your password the next time you log in.

If you are logged in to the app or vr.fi, your session will not be automatically terminated. However, you can log out to try out the new login process and change your password when it is convenient to you.

What types of changes should you expect?

The next time you log in to our service either at VR.fi or in the VR Matkalla app, you will be asked to change your password. When you enter your current credentials in the login window, you will receive an email with a link to change your password. In addition to changing your password, you may also be asked to complete any missing information (e.g. if your name or phone number is missing).

After receiving the password reset link, you have 1 hour to set a new password for your account. If you do not have time to change your password within this timeframe, you can always order a new password by clicking on the Forgot your password? link in the login window.

Take your time to explore the new login process

If you are currently logged in to the VR Matkalla app or vr.fi, you will not be automatically logged out. However, we recommend that you log out when it is convenient for you, so that you can try out the new login process and change your password in good time — not when you are rushing to catch your train.

Is your VR account linked to an email account that you can't access?

If your VR account is linked to an email address that you can no longer access, you will not be able to change your password. In that case, our customer service can change the email address linked to your VR account. You can also create a new user account with a different email address.

Changes for corporate users

In future, logging in as a corporate user will be more straightforward as all users log in to VR’s services using the same login view.

Another profile, called My profile is automatically created alongside your business profile. My profile is for purchasing personal leisure journeys. In future, you will be able to purchase both business and leisure journeys with a single username and password; simply select the correct the profile on your account.

In future, you will also be able to log in to the VR Matkalla app with your corporate account, where you will also find your tickets. In the initial phase, it will not yet be possible to buy corporate tickets in the app, but you will get access to the journey-related functions and benefits in the app.

From March 3rd, we will implement a more uniform service fee for ticket sales. The changes will affect our ticket vending machines, commuter tickets sold at R-kioskis, and our phone service. We will also reinstate service fees for ticket sales points. The service fees for ticket sales points were temporarily removed due to a system update in 2023. No service fee will be added to tickets purchased from vr.fi or the VR Matkalla app.

We are piloting the use of body cameras in VR’s commuter traffic

Based on customer surveys, the feeling of safety in VR’s commuter train traffic is at a very good level and train travel is perceived as safe. According to the latest customer satisfaction survey carried out at the beginning of the year, for example, the feeling of safety on our commuter trains received a grade of 4.5 on a scale of 1–5. In order to prevent and resolve individual disruptions in VR’s commuter train traffic, conductors’ use of body cameras will be piloted during the spring.
