The largest track work projects commissioned by the FTIA in 2025

In 2025, the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency will commission extensive track work projects around Finland. We have compiled the largest projects affecting traffic next year in this news item. In addition to these projects, the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency will also commission other more minor track renovation work.

Tampere railway station area project

The goal of the Tampere railway station area project is to improve the functionality of the railway station area. The project aims to make switching from one means of transport to another easier, faster and more accessible. Once the project is completed, moving around the area will be safer and more pleasant. You can read more about the project on FTIA's website., Opens in a new tab

Effects on train traffic

Due to the renovation of the railway station area, we will replace day trains with buses between Tampere and Parkano on 26 April, 17 May, 18 May, 24 May, 25 May, 31 May and 1 June. We will also replace trains between Tampere and Seinäjoki by buses on May 3-4 and May 10-11. The work will also affect train traffic between Tampere and Pori, and we will replace trains on the route with buses on 26 April, 3–4 May, 10–11 May, 17–18 May, 24–25 May and 31 May–1 June.

The work will also cause changes to night trains

We have to cancel some of the night trains in May. In addition to cancellations, we will be replacing some night train services with services running according to an exceptional schedule.

We will not operate any night trains at allon Saturdays in May 2025. We will be cancelling all night train services (265, 266, 273, 274 and 276). However, train services 933 and 904 will run normally on the route Port of Turku–Tampere–Port of Turku. In place of the cancelled Saturday departures, we will operate the night train service 276 from Kolari to Helsinki on every Sunday in May and on Sunday, 1 June.

We will cancel night trains 265 and 274 from Monday, 12 May, to Wednesday, 14 May, and from Monday, 19 May, to Wednesday, 21 May.

The track work will also cause changes to the Helsinki–Kemijärvi–Helsinki night trains:

On Friday, 9 May, we will operate the night train service 264 instead of 274 for the Kemijärvi–Helsinki night train service.

On Sunday, 11 May, we will run the Helsinki–Kemijärvi night train service 267 instead of 265.

The timetable changes and cancelled night train services may still change as the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency specifies the schedule of the track work.

Espoo Rail Line

The Espoo Rail Line project aims to improve the punctuality of traffic and reduce disruption proneness. The project will also increase the track capacity between Helsinki and Turku. You can read more about the work from FTIA's website., Opens in a new tab
